Something interesting happened here while I was was working late to put the finishing touches on some projects.  As is often the case when I’m on deadline, I marked up a delivery menu with my dinner order.  I have three or four favorite spots (all of which deliver, of course) that serve burgers, pizza, and some variation on Asian cuisine.  This particular night I chose the pizza menu.  As I was perusing the options, I was able to think about what I usually order.  Salads with grilled chicken, with dressing on the side?  What has happened to me?  Ten years ago there would have been three pizzas, most of them topped by all the available meat and cheese options.  Well, not anymore.  These day I’m watching what I eat.  I’m limiting carbs.  I’m spinning and holding poses and training for races.  I’m getting trail mix (not Cheetos) from the minimart.  I’m wearing tapered shirts and eating superfoods, even though I don’t quite know what either of those means.  I’m getting ready for “bathing suit season.”  I am, in a word, body-conscious.

A small price to pay for looking good at a this age…even if I’m always hungry.
